The Illinois-Basketball.com girls basketball rankings are an attempt to contextualize just how every team in the state stacks up with one another, regardless of the size of the school.
This is the fourth week of rankings, for the week ending Jan. 30, and there’s a bit of movement toward the top, and plenty of movement later in the top 25. One school made its first appearance in the top 25.
Overcame an eight-point third-quarter deficit at a neutral site to defeat Kenwood 65-51 at Saturday’s Midwest Hoops Spotlight Invitational at Trinity High School. Did so without its best perimeter shooter Ava Bardic (concussion protocol). Beat Mundelein and Warren as well.
Defeated Nazareth, Marian Central Catholic and Marist. Also claimed fifth-consecutive ESCC title.
Has a win over Stevenson, so after Kenwood’s loss to Stevenson and the Ramblers’ eight-game winning streak, Loyola Academy leapfrogs the Broncos.
Lone in-state losses are to No. 1 Stevenson and No. 2 Benet. Set for a likely clash with Whitney Young for the city title.
Has not lost since Dec. 22. Wins over Downers Grove North and DeKalb by a combined 70 points.
Played from behind most of the game in a 53-51 loss to Lincoln-Way West, its first loss of the season. Played without 6-4 forward Evyn Carrier in the loss to LWW, as well as in wins over DeKalb and Huntley. No team has played them to a single-digit game in conference play.
Sustained first loss, falling to Rock Island 52-41. Beat Sterling.
Started the week with a loss to No. 2 Benet. Beat Marian Catholic, Marian Central Catholic and Hoffman Estates.

On a 10-game win streak after defeating Palatine, Libertyville and Schaumburg.
Handled Hoffman Estates, Butler College Prep and Conant.
Wins against St. Charles North and Batavia.
Defeated Waubonsie Valley, Glenbard West and Saint Ignatius.
Beat Vashon (MO), O’Fallon and Belleville East.
Hasn’t lost since Nov. 24. Beat Limestone and Richwoods this week.
Losses to Benet and Fenwick, wins over Trinity and Saint Viator. Drops below Lyons and Edwardsville, teams it has beaten, due to recent losses.

Handed losses to Ag Science and Orr by a combined 120 points.
Defeated Centennial by 40 and clipped Normal Community by a point.
Bested Rockford Christian and Genoa-Kingston.
Wins over Aurora Central Catholic and OPRF. Montini moves into top 25 for the first time.
