14 Illinois Girls Nominated for 2021 McDonald’s All-American Game

Fourteen girls from around the state were nominated for the 2021 McDonald’s All-American game, the event announced Thursday, Feb. 18.
Each one of the seniors is highly decorated and has decided where they will play college basketball. Get to know the nominees below.
Sydney Affolter, Marist
- Position: Wing
- College: Iowa
- Stats and highlights: 2020 AP All-State 4A second team; 2020 IBCA All-State 4A first team; 2019 IBCA All-State 4A honorable mention; 2018 IBCA All-State 3A/4A fourth team; averaged 13.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2 assists as a junior as the RedHawks advanced to a Class 4A sectional championship game (Beverly Review)
Lauren Cohen, Glenbard South
- Position: Guard
- College: Illinois State
- Stats and highlights: 2020 IBCA 3A All-State third team; averaged 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3 assists as a junior
Khaniah Gardner, Simeon
- Position: Forward
- College: Vanderbilt
- Stats and highlights: 2019-20 3A state champion; averaged 10.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists as a junior
Anna Griffin, Aurora Christian
- Position: Wing
- College: Virginia
- Stats and highlights: 2020 AP All-State 1A first team; 2020 IBCA All-State 1A first team; recently surpassed 1,500 career points; part of 2019-20 1A fourth-place team; averaged 17.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists as a junior.
